More Milestones
Luke is showing more and more personality every day. We are so proud of him and what a good baby we have been blessed with. Luke found his feet this past week and enjoys holding on to his toes or behind the backs of his knees. Yesterday he sat in John's lap and actually banged on the piano himself squealing with joy. He sits in his jumper and entertains himself with the toys and music he hears. He will look at us and watch what we are doing with such interest. I would love to see the world through a baby's eyes for a day......... I imagine I would be full of wonder and "aw" about things that as adults we take for granted.
Luke had green beans for the first time yesterday and does not appear to care for them at all. They are John's favorite veggie so we will keep trying with Luke. :)
Luke actually has little "temper tantrums" now and it is so amazing/funny/sad. When we are changing his clothes or putting lotion on he will kick his feet and make this little screeching sound in protest.
For some reason Luke has decided he no longer likes to ride in the car seat and proceeds to cry the entire time I am driving anywhere. If the 3 of us are together it is usually a more peaceful journey if I ride in the back with Luke.
Luke's likes:
rolling on the floor, ceiling fans, squealing, standing, diaper changes, pacifier, talking/cooing/babbling, vibrating teether, touching people's faces
Luke's dislikes:
changing clothes, lotion before bed, riding in the car seat, green beans?
Cute things Luke does:
happy feet (when he is really excited he will kick his legs really fast), giggles when we wipe him during diaper changes, tries to "help" during feeding times (grabs the spoon to fling whatever is on it all over the place, tries to help with clean up (grabs his bib and pulls it over his face during feeding), sometimes holds his feet up during diaper changes
Things we have learned:
changes in schedule make for a fussy baby, cuddling and smiles make you forget about fussy times,

Well Child Check
Luke had his 4 month well child check today. He was 16.7 lbs and 27 inches long which puts him in the 75% for weight and the 97% for height. Amazing! He has gained 8 lbs and grown 7 inches since birth. So proud of him! We also got clearance to try different flavors of cereal to see if he likes those better. Once he is good at eating that, then we can begin introducing veggies and fruit. He is also now rolling both ways tummy to back and back to tummy. Yeah!

Cereal
Luke had his first baby cereal on Sunday July 5. He was not a big fan of it and I think more ended up on his bib than in his mouth. Yesterday we tried again and he did ok, still started crying about halfway through. Today was a good cereal day. Luke is beginning to get the hang of it, even though he still spits ALOT out. Crying was replaced with happy squeals. He must have gotten more in his tummy too because he did not really want his bottle afterwards. One thing I have to say is........... THIS IS VERY MESSY!

4th of July
Luke had a big weekend. We drove to Odessa to spend the 4th with John's parents (Mimi and Pawpaw). Luke was such a trooper on the road. When we got there I suspected Luke might have an ear infection and it was crazy trying to find a pediatrician open on the holiday weekend. We were able to see a doctor and Luke was diagnosed with his first ear infection and received his first antibiotic on his 4 month birthday.
Luke was also able to see fireworks for the first time. We attended the Firework Fandango and watched the choir from FBC perform right before the big fireworks show began. Luke wore protective head phones to keep his little ears safe from the loud music and fireworks. He was so cute and he did not mind them at all.

16 weeks.... almost 4 months
I feel like it has been forever since I updated the blog. Things have been quite busy. Luke is now 16 weeks old and will be 4 months on July 3. He actually gets to start having baby cereal on his 4 month birthday. I know that will be exciting.
Luke has changed so much already. He is now able to roll from tummy to back, enjoys squealing and "talking" loud, drools -alot-, and his hair is starting to grow back. I nicknamed him "fuzzy" because he looks like he has peach fuzz all over his little head. He has also decided that he no longer wants to sleep through the night without interruption........so it is a work in progress.
We traveled for the first time to the farm and San Angelo while John was out of town on a mission trip. My mom rode in the back seat with Luke and he did great. However I did notice that his was more easily frustrated after travel time. We had a great time and it was fun introducing Luke to family members he had not met before.

Big Weekend
We had a big weekend full of exciting things.
Daddy graduated from Southwestern Theological Seminary with a masters in arts and worship. Luke sat through the whole ceremony and did not cry....... but by the time it was over he was not really in the mood for pictures. So we did the best we could.
We celebrated my first Mother's Day. John surprised me with a compiled video of Luke put to music as well as a framed painted heart made out of Luke's hand prints and footprints. It was very sweet. John gets extra brownie points.
Luke was dedicated to the Lord at church on Mother's day. All the proud grandparents came to watch.
The next weekend Granny came over so Mommy and Daddy could go stay the night in Fort Worth to celebrate graduation. It was a nice break but we were definitely ready to see Luke the next day.

2 months...and them some
Luke had his 2 month check up on May 4. He weighed in at 12.2 ounces and 23 3/4 inches long, which puts him in the 75% for weight and the 90% for height. Luke is definitely a growing boy and is filling out quite nicely. Our pediatrician informed us that Luke should be eating about 32 ounces a day by the time he is 4 months........ I informed our pediatrician that Luke was already eating 30-35 ounces a day. :) Luke is also consistently sleeping 7-8 hours at night so we feel very blessed.
I started back to work on May 1. I love my job! Although it is a little overwhelming to find the balance between work and being a mom. I want to be able to do both 100% and the reality is that some things just have to go undone. My classroom is not so organized anymore, the laundry I started a week ago is still on the couch, and I am updating my blog to report Luke's 2 month check up and he is already almost 11 weeks right now.
